Commercial Director – (Based in Beijing) – Expats welcome to apply
Our client is a leading European Apparel organization with a global presence in over 35 countries and over 6000 stores. Known to be a leader in the fast fashion sector, they are now seeking a Commercial Director to join their ever-growing business. This position is strategic, located in Beijing (China), and will report directly to the CEO / Owner of the company, and Brand Director.
Commercial Responsibilities :
- Identify Category trends and set design and fabric guidelines by category for Design and Buying teams. Implement findings in range planning season by season.
- Work closely with Finance, brand inventory team as well as Head of Buying in the establishment of final range plan.
- Set up delivery plan for offline and online collections with Sales, Buying, and design teams.
- Be in the supply market, together with Head of Buying, develop new garment suppliers, spot new market trends.
- Join Design team in seasonal inspiration trips to spot the latest market trends to develop.
- Together with Head of Buying, in charge of setting up seasonal fabric concept.
- Oversee Design process together with Brand director, e.g. overall concept, colour, and fabric.
Procurement and Buying :
Management of Category Buying team, in charge of product development whole process, including fitting, bulk management, price, quality, lead time control etc.Drive product development by supporting the total design process and ensuring to bring the latest developments / techniques / fabrics.Order placement with suppliers including negotiating purchase prices, quality, and deliveries to meet KPI’s for margins, quality, and lead-time / delivery on-time.Develop & execute a competitive production strategy (incl. speed to market in trends and repeats) and further develop supplier base to meet the objectives.Lead partnerships with cross-functional departments / brands to develop long-term strategies to achieve goals of the business with parameters of cost and quality targets and delivery schedules.Guarantee fit and quality remains at high level and kept up-to-date.Closely work together with Head of Buying to develop new garment suppliers and identify new supplier needs.Constantly looking for improving sales growth and sales-through in the brand’s multichannel network of retail shops and online shops.Requirements :
Proven leadership skills of leading multiple teams from different cultural backgrounds.Bachelor degree in Business, Supply Chain, Textiles, or similar acumen.At least 12 years of relevant work experience in the area of Design, Buying, or Merchandising, ideally in Menswear.Ability to set priorities and work organized.Strong analytical skills and good business mindset.Strong fashion sense and ability to implement new trends in the product development process.Excellent communication in English, both spoken and written; any additional European language would be advantageous.Eager to bring the best product to the shop floor across 1000s of stores.You work well with motivating people and build high-performance teams. You are able to use your fashion sense to improve the product look and quality. You love challenges and are result-driven while keeping an eye for detail. With your entrepreneurial character, you spot new business opportunities. You like to travel and are able to bring your team to a higher level. Your goal is to deliver the best collections ever in the coming years ahead.
For this role, we are looking for someone with an international background, ideally experienced in working within fashion brands.
