This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Dailymotion. We are currently looking for a Staff Database Engineer in France.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced database professional to join a fast-paced team working on one of the world’s leading video platforms. In this role, you’ll manage and optimize MySQL databases across both cloud and on-premise environments, contributing directly to system reliability and performance. You’ll collaborate with backend teams, engage in platform modernization, and take a lead role in ensuring the security and scalability of core data infrastructure. Ideal for engineers passionate about automation, observability, and open-source technologies, this position offers both technical challenges and room for growth.

Accountabilities :

  • Manage, optimize, and modernize MySQL database platforms across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments.
  • Ensure high availability, security, and performance through automation, proactive monitoring, and scalable infrastructure.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to support applications, manage incidents, and troubleshoot production issues.
  • Collaborate with backend developers to improve schema design, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Lead infrastructure upgrades and plan capacity improvements while automating maintenance tasks.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing through documentation, mentoring, and staying current with best practices and tech trends.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience managing large-scale web platforms, ideally in an Agile setting.
  • Expert-level knowledge of MySQL administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with indexing, statistics, backup strategies, and database automation scripting.
  • Proven experience in cloud environments (e.g., AWS RDS) and database migration from on-premise to cloud.
  • Solid understanding of Linux systems and container orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
  • Proficient in at least one programming language (preferably Python or Go); familiarity with CI / CD and Git.
  • Security-focused mindset with experience in implementing encryption, access control, and secure protocols.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and technical project management skills; fluent in French and English.
