The position
Position Summary:
This position will work closely with the Director, Alumni Affairs to develop and execute a planned, robust multi-channel alumni communications strategy that fosters connection, pride, and a sense of belonging among our global alumni through increased engagement via digital (web, social, and email) and print streams. You will curate and share the inspiring stories of our alumni, manage high-profile publications, and leverage digital platforms to keep our community engaged and informed. Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive alumni communications strategy ensuring consistent messaging across all digital and print platforms
- developing and following an annual alumni communications content calendar
- curating regular alumni communication collaterals including quarterly newsletter, annual magazine, reports, gift acknowledgement letters, and other messages
- curating an effective social media campaign that strengthens the emotional connection of the alumni from across classes and geographies with AKU
- liaising with different entities across campus to source stories and content that would be of interest for AKU alumni
- producing impact stories of alumni in creative and innovative ways for alumni social media platforms, emails, alumni website, and newsletters. Cross sharing stories of faculty, staff and students from the global
- communication social media platforms
- providing communications-related support to alumni engagement events, including developing web news stories, social media posts, video content and on ground content
- developing compelling and creative promotional material for alumni fundraising campaigns and events for use on print and digital mediums
- supporting the Alumni Affairs team in curating content for alumni spotlights and alumni pod casts
- reviewing and evaluating sources of alumni feedback, including survey responses, direct conversations, and other means of input that provide insight into alumni interests and inform alumni communication strategies.
The requirements
- Master’s degree in communications/journalism or another relevant discipline/MBA
- excellent oral and written communication skills
- 5-7 years of experience in alumni communications preferably in the higher education sector
- knowledge of design software like Canva, in-design, etc. would be preferred
- familiarity with CRM systems and social media analytics would be a plus
- demonstrated experience with storytelling for digital, and social media platforms, content management, and experience in brand building
- proficiency in web, video and social media channels, technologies, and trends
- demonstrated knowledge of creative, compelling, and sharp multi-media storytelling
- demonstrated experience with communications best practices
- understanding of stakeholder engagement and meeting stakeholder communication needs to build and maintain strong relationships
- confidence, with a positive attitude, and courage to share ideas
- the ability to work as part of a team and independently
- superior multi-tasking ability in order to work quickly and effectively
