General Counsel (Basé à Paris)

DBI headquarters is located in Rueil-Malmaison, greater Paris area, with subsidiaries across Europe (DACH, Italy, Iberia, Eastern Europe).

Its Supply Chain center (manufacturing and logistics) is based in Autun, Burgundy, where more than 5 billion tights have been produced since DIM was founded!

To accompany us in this adventure, we are looking for our future Europe General Counsel (M / F) based in DBI Headquarters in Rueil-Malmaison, Paris area, France.

Key responsibilities :

Working closely to the CEO and the CFO, and the Ownership Group, you are part of the company Executive Leadership Team, and lead DBI Group’s law department and are responsible for all the legal affairs .

In this position, your main missions will be :

Oversee transformational projects and all legal affairs of the group , in all jurisdictions where the group does business, and in all areas of the law;

enables the Group's transformation agenda, from a legal perspective.

Provide legal advice to, and execute the instructions provided by the CEO and the leadership team and the Ownership Group;

liaises with the board of directors. Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically and proactively.

• Oversee all disputes in which DBI is involved, decide the litigation strategy, coordinate efforts with other relevant functions in the group, and advise the CFO on the booking of litigation reserves.
• Establish and lead an agile legal organization, through the management of a multicultural team of 6 inhouse counsels in Rueil-Malmaison (France) and in Rheine (Germany).

Build capabilities, develop, engage, and monitor your direct reports. Define DBI's Outside Counsel Guidelines by choosing and engaging external legal counsels through 30+ European law firms.

• Define the annual budget for the operation of the law department and be responsible for the team adherence thereto.
• Act as the appointed Data Protection Officer before the referent Data Protection Authorities; defines the data protection policies of the group and ensures audit and implementation thereof.

Act also as the legal referent for DBI's compliance and sustainability efforts.

Manage and defend the intellectual property portfolio of the group.

Your profile :

With a Juris Doctor Degree from an accredited European Law School, you have been ideally admitted to the bar of an EU member country.

You have a solid professional experience of 15 years managing law departments of a multinational organization, including 5 years of experience as associate or partner with an international law firm.

To succeed in this position, it is necessary to have an extensive knowledge of legal ethics, data protection, professional responsibility, compliance matters, corporate law, litigation, labor law, and other relevant areas.

You are experimented to understand how legal issues affect organizations, and their business strategies and to deal with complex and significant matters that cut across legal and related areas and explain such matters in simple and business-friendly terms.

You have demonstrated sound judgment and business acumen, strong drafting and negotiating skills, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Thanks to this, you can create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders with whom collaborate.

You have full professional proficiency in French & English; German, Italian or Spanish would be a plus. You own a multi-cultural sensibility and adaptability.

You must be willing to travel 20% of your time.
