Mechanism Design Engineer
Paris, France | €66,000–€72,000 + Equity + Relocation Support
Some of the most interesting engineering challenges aren't about making something move. They're about making it move once, flawlessly, after launch.
We're supporting a well-funded European deep-tech startup developing next-generation deployable hardware for the space industry. They're looking for an experienced Mechanism Design Engineer to take ownership of precision mechanical systems from concept through to flight-ready hardware.
This is an individual contributor role where you'll work alongside a highly experienced engineering team in a fast-paced startup environment. You'll have genuine ownership of your designs and see them through the full product development lifecycle.
Although the end application is space, we're keen to hear from engineers with experience designing complex mechanisms in industries such as aerospace, robotics, automotive, motorsport, defence, industrial machinery or other high-performance engineering environments.
The Role
- Design precision mechanical systems including hinges, latches, gear trains, actuators and deployment mechanisms.
- Own mechanical subsystems from concept, detailed design and analysis through to prototype, testing and qualification.
- Perform kinematic studies, tolerance analysis and detailed CAD design.
- Support prototype manufacture, environmental testing, root cause investigations and design improvements.
- Work closely with manufacturing, structures, electronics and systems engineers to deliver reliable products.
What We're Looking For
- Around 5+ years' experience designing precision mechanical systems or mechanisms.
- Experience taking products through the full development lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of mechanism design, kinematics, tolerance analysis and Design for Manufacture.
- Proficiency with 3D CAD such as Siemens NX, CATIA or SolidWorks.
- A practical engineering mindset with a passion for solving complex mechanical challenges.
Experience designing gear trains, actuators, deployment systems, robotic mechanisms, latching devices or other moving mechanical assemblies would be particularly valuable.
What's on Offer
- €66,000–€72,000 base salary
- Equity package
- Relocation support
- The opportunity to join a rapidly growing engineering startup developing genuinely innovative hardware
- Significant technical ownership and influence over product development
If you're looking for an opportunity to design challenging mechanical systems in an environment where your work will have a direct impact on the success of the product, I'd be happy to tell you more.
