Description de posteOur Mission We believe there is a smarter, more data-driven way to make decisions in healthcare and our cloud-native AI powered SOPHiA DDM Platform makes that vision a reality on a daily basis. You will have direct input to our mission to democratize data-driven medicine for the ultimate benefit of cancer and rare disease patients across the globe.
Your Mission We are looking for a Senior AI Software Engineer to strengthen our Engineering Hub — a small, nimble team that takes new product ideas from 0 to 1. You will be a builder and a mentor: shipping full-stack product features, and bringing hands‑on experience with production LLM applications so the whole team levels up. Your first flagship AI project will draft evidence‑grounded gene and variant descriptions, with sources and citations, for clinical interpreters to review.
The value you bring: Product engineering
Design, build, test, deploy and maintain full-stack web features and microservices, owning components end to end.
Lead code and design reviews; mentor junior engineers and raise the team's engineering quality.
Prototype fast and iterate — take early ideas to working, reliable software.
Collaborate with Product, QA, Architecture and PMO to align delivery with product vision and regulatory needs
Applied AI / LLM
Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines over curated clinical data sources and internal databases.
Design system and task‑specific prompts, structured output, and provenance/citation handling.
Build LLM evaluation into the product: graders and evaluation pipelines that score accuracy, relevance and grounding, plus guardrails that verify citations resolve and are relevant.
Use managed LLM endpoints on Azure AI Foundry effectively (caching, tools, structured output), and share these practices with the team.
Must have:
5–7 years building and releasing reliable web-based services to production.
Back‑end: strong Java and SQL, microservice architecture. Front‑end: React and modern JavaScript.
Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD.
Hands‑on experience with production LLM applications — specifically RAG pipelines and/or LLM evaluation — OR clear, demonstrable evidence of rapidly self‑learning new technical areas to production quality.
Experience using AI tooling in the SDLC (AI‑assisted coding, review, documentation).
Strong communication and a real appetite for mentoring.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Strong plus:
Prompt engineering, structured/JSON output, and reasoning about faithfulness, calibration and hallucination.
Experience with Azure AI Foundry or equivalent managed inference platforms; prompt caching.
GraphQL, observability (Grafana, Loki), modern DevOps.
Experience in genomics, digital healthcare, or another regulated domain.
You will be joining an organization with the patient at the heart of every decision and action, driven by purpose as we pursue exponential growth.
Benefits
Sickness and Accident coverage through Helsana
Meal Vouchers at 90CHF PM with our partner cafeteria
A fun and engaging work environment, with Rest & Entertainment space, full stocked free coffee machine and free fruit/snacks
Free parking in an easy to access location
A strong social committee whose purpose is to make SOPHiA GENETICs both enjoyable as well as rewarding
As our global HQ, you’ll have direct interaction and exposure to senior leadership and our executive team locally
