We are looking for an Intern - Data Analyst to support our team during a period of growth. This role involves helping a French multinational corporation that is currently expanding its Paris operations by organizing and refining the financial data that fuels their reporting systems. You will work alongside our consultants to ensure that the numbers used by the finance department are accurate, timely, and correctly mapped across various platforms.
About Alpine Business Consulting Alpine Business Consulting works at the intersection of finance processes and the systems that support them. We specialize in Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) and analytics, helping finance teams fix platforms that never delivered on their promises. While we build new systems from scratch, much of our work involves remediating existing setups in Oracle EPM, SAP BPC, and Power BI. We focus on the numbers side of the house, ensuring that consolidation rules, intercompany eliminations, and reporting pipelines reflect how a finance team actually operates.
Our approach moves away from typical implementation theatre. We prioritize finance-first configurations and fixed-price engagements, giving our clients certainty before any work begins. We do not believe in keeping clients dependent on us. Instead, we build administrator training and documentation into every project so teams can run their systems independently after go-live. We are a remote-first team of consultants who understand that a dashboard is only useful if the data is accurate to the cent and available the morning a period closes. Whether it is a cloud migration or a complex forecasting model, we value precision over presentation.
What You Will Do - Organize large datasets from disparate sources to prepare them for ingestion into Oracle EPM and SAP BPC environments.
- Assist in building and updating financial dashboards in Power BI, focusing on clear data visualization that matches accounting requirements.
- Verify intercompany elimination rules by comparing system outputs against manual ledger entries to ensure total accuracy.
- Document data mapping logic and ETL processes so that client administrators can understand how their information flows between systems.
- Test reporting pipelines during system migrations to identify discrepancies in currency translations or consolidation logic.
- Help draft user manuals and technical guides for finance teams to use once a project is handed over.
- Participate in internal project reviews to ensure that our deliverables meet the specific functional needs of the client.
What We Are Looking For - A basic understanding of accounting principles, including how balance sheets and income statements are structured.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, specifically using functions like VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and pivot tables to summarize data.
- A strong interest in how data systems support corporate finance and a willingness to learn the logic behind EPM tools.
- High attention to detail, as our work requires matching numbers to the cent across different reporting periods.
- Technical curiosity and a basic awareness of data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment while communicating clearly through written updates.
- A proactive approach to solving problems when data does not reconcile as expected.
What We Offer - The opportunity to gain practical experience on a major project for a French multinational corporation.
- A fully remote work arrangement that emphasizes results and clear communication over traditional office hours.
- Direct mentorship from senior consultants who specialize in the technical side of corporate finance.
- The position is paid and the pay is attractive for an internship, reflecting the value we place on our team members.
- Exposure to professional software environments including Oracle EPM, SAP, and advanced Power BI configurations.
- A professional atmosphere that values technical precision and honest, plain-spoken communication.
How We Work At Alpine Business Consulting, we believe that consulting should be about solving problems, not prolonging them. We operate through fixed-price engagements with clearly defined scopes, ensuring that both our team and our clients know exactly what to expect. This model requires us to be disciplined and focused on the technical requirements of every project. We do not leave our clients with black-box systems: we prioritize documentation and training so that they can manage their own data long after our work is done. This role is a chance to see how high-level finance systems are built and maintained without the unnecessary fluff often found in larger firms.
