Inventory Management Planner (January 2027)

Job Description

Join Salomon as an Inventory Management Planner and play a key role in the development of our Inventory Planning function. Reporting to the Inventory Management Lead, you will support inventory visibility, optimization, and decision-making across the EMEA business.

As Salomon transitions from a single-distribution-center model to a dual-distribution-center network, with operations across France and the UK, you will help ensure optimal inventory positioning, product availability, and stock flow across the network.

Working closely with Merchandising, Demand Planning, Allocation, Sales, Finance, Operations, and Logistics teams, you will contribute to inventory analysis, forecasting, stock optimization, and liquidation activities while helping build new reporting, processes, and planning capabilities.

Your mission is to transform data into actionable insights, support business performance, and help drive inventory excellence across Salomon's omnichannel EMEA business.

Your Main Responsibilities

1. Inventory Visibility, Analysis & Optimization

• Maintain accurate and reliable inventory data across the assigned scope.

• Develop and maintain a clear and reliable view of inventory across channels and distribution centers.

• Monitor key inventory KPIs (Weeks of Supply, Inventory Turns, Cover, Availability, Aging) and flag deviations.

• Provide analytical inputs to help define optimal stock targets and seasonal inventory requirements.

• Identify overstock and understock risks and recommend corrective actions.

• Support forecasting of future inventory positions and inventory health.

• Contribute to the creation and continuous improvement of inventory processes, KPIs, governance, and reporting tools.

2. Multi-Distribution Center Management & In-Season Stock Optimization

• Support inventory planning, optimization, and stock positioning across the France and UK Distribution Centers to maximize product availability, service levels, profitability, and inventory productivity.

• Monitor inventory allocation, product performance, and stock levels across locations, identifying risks and opportunities and recommending actions to improve operational efficiency.

• Execute and support rebuys, reallocations, stock balancing, and inventory transfer activities based on live business needs and performance insights.

• Coordinate and manage Stock Transfer Orders (STOs) and inter-distribution-center inventory flows, ensuring timely execution aligned with inventory, service, and profitability objectives.

• Contribute to inventory strategies and balancing decisions within the dual-distribution-center operating model, supporting business growth while minimizing excess inventory across the network.

• Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Logistics, and cross-functional teams to ensure effective inventory deployment and to maximize in-season sales opportunities through optimal stock availability.

3. Inventory Liquidation & End-of-Season Management

• Prepare analyses to support seasonal outlet flows, inventory liquidation plans, and close-out opportunities.

• Assist in building launch calendars and monitoring outlet inventory performance.

• Contribute to the preparation of close-out deal proposals for Sales teams and off-price partners.

• Provide pricing and margin scenarios to support decision-making.

• Track sell-out, margin recovery, and profitability of close-out deals and produce regular reporting.

• Support inventory reduction initiatives through outlet sales, close-out deals, e-discounters, and other liquidation channels.

4. Process Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Demand Planning, Allocation, Merchandising, Sales, Finance, Operations, Logistics, and Supply Chain teams.

• Serve as an operational point of contact for inventory and in-season management topics within the assigned scope.

• Communicate risks, insights, and recommendations clearly through structured, data-driven reporting.

• Support the preparation of analytical materials for internal reviews and leadership updates.

• Help establish new weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory planning processes and routines.

• Support the design and implementation of dashboards, reporting frameworks, and inventory management best practices.

Qualifications

Skills & Experience

• 1-3 years of experience in Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Inventory Planning, Allocation, Supply Chain, Commercial Planning, or a similar analytical role.

• Experience within a multinational and international business environment

• Fluent English, both written and spoken. French is highly desirable.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• Knowledge of ERP systems desirable.

• Experience with inventory analytics, forecasting, or inventory management processes is a strong advantage.

• Knowledge of Python, SQL, Data Science tools, or advanced analytics is a strong plus.

• Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Merchandising, Finance, Operations, or a related field.
