Sustainability & Compliance Associate (Fixed-Term contract - 6 months)

Haddad Brands Europe, founded in 2017, specializes in the distribution of children’s apparel under exclusive licenses (Nike, Levi’s, Converse, Jordan, Lacoste…) across Europe.

Operational for 9 years, the company has experienced remarkable growth and now counts over 500 employees throughout Europe.

We distribute our products both through wholesale, working with major multi-brand and specialized retailers, and through retail, via our corners in leading department stores.

In concrete terms, this means that if you purchase children’s apparel (0–7 years for Nike, 0–16 years for Levi’s, Converse, and Jordan), whether in a physical store, online, in the Netherlands, the UK, Italy, or anywhere else in Europe, the product you’re holding has gone through us — even if you bought it in an official Nike or Levi’s store!

We are currently looking for a Sustainability & Compliance Associate (Temporary contract - 6 months).

KEY RESPONSABILITIES:

Regulatory monitoring & EPR compliance

• Monitor Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes applicable to HBE’s activity across its markets:
  - AGEC (French anti-waste law) and Refashion (French EPR eco-organism for textiles, household linen and footwear): declarations, eco-contributions, labelling and consumer information obligations.
  - Citeo (French EPR eco-organism for household packaging): packaging declarations, eco-contribution calculation and payment.
  - PPWR (EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40): conformity requirements and declarations, including HBE’s dual role as manufacturer and importer.
  - UK pEPR (Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging, administered by PackUK): registration and packaging data reporting for organisations importing into the UK.

• - German VerpackG / LUCID register: registration, licensing with an approved dual system (e.g. Belland Vision), and annual declaration of packaging volumes and materials placed on the German market.
  - Other EU packaging EPR schemes (e.g. CONAI in Italy, Ecoembes in Spain) in markets where HBE distributes its products.
  

• Track upcoming regulatory developments across the EU, France, Germany, the UK and other relevant markets, and assess their impact on products, packaging and internal processes.

• Own the compliance calendar and ensure all mandatory declarations are filed on time.

• Maintain an up-to-date map of declarations, registrations and regulatory deadlines by country.

Declarations & reporting

• Centralise, calculate and file periodic declarations with Refashion, Citeo, the LUCID register / chosen German dual system, UK PackUK, and relevant EU national eco-organisms (CONAI, Ecoembes, etc.).

• Maintain documentary traceability of declarations and supporting evidence (tonnages, product references, packaging materials).

• Build and maintain Excel-based dashboards and compliance tracking reports for management and the US offices.

Product & customer compliance

• Ensure products and packaging distributed meet regulatory requirements in European and UK markets.

• Prepare and maintain compliance documentation (declarations of conformity, consumer information, regulatory labelling) for customers and distributors.

• Coordinate with sourcing teams to build regulatory requirements into supplier and material selection upstream.

Broader compliance & operations

• Support the coordination and continuous improvement of Claims, Photo 8 and Special Order Form processes.

• Monitor Photo 8 and Special Order Form activity, ensuring appropriate follow-up and visibility on open topics.

• Support the implementation and monitoring of packaging and logistics compliance controls.

• Contribute to simplifying operational flows and reducing administrative and compliance errors across departments.

• Progressively extend scope to other compliance areas relevant to HBE’s licensed brands, beyond environmental/EPR topics, as the role matures.

Internal & international coordination

• Communicate regularly in English with the group’s US offices to align sustainability/compliance practices and escalate European/UK regulatory developments.

• Raise awareness and train internal teams (sourcing, commercial) on EPR obligations and broader compliance topics.

• Contribute to the progressive structuring of a wider compliance framework for HBE, beyond EPR-specific obligations.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Full autonomy on day-to-day Sustainability & Compliance activities, with validation sought only on genuinely sensitive regulatory matters.

• More structured and standardised compliance processes, with clearer performance monitoring through relevant KPIs and Excel-based tracking.

• Improved packaging and logistics compliance, with a measurable reduction in recurring non-conformities.

• Consolidated, reliable and securely maintained supplier and regulatory documentation.

• A compliance scope that extends beyond sustainability/EPR into adjacent operational and regulatory topics.

• A shift from reactive follow-up to a proactive, well-anticipated approach to Sustainability & Compliance.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• Degree (Bac+3 to Bac+5 / Master’s) in Sustainability, Compliance, Environmental Law, Supply Chain or a related field.

• At least 1–2 years’ experience in compliance, sustainability or regulatory roles, ideally within an import/distribution business (apparel, accessories or consumer goods).

• Proven ability to work highly autonomously, owning the full scope of the role end-to-end and raising a concern or requesting validation only when genuinely needed.

• Advanced Excel skills — comfortable building and maintaining structured trackers, dashboards and reporting tools from scratch.

• Genuine interest in compliance topics broadly, not limited to sustainability or EPR — open to picking up adjacent regulatory or operational compliance subjects as the role evolves.

• Working knowledge of French EPR schemes (AGEC, Refashion, Citeo); familiarity with German (VerpackG/LUCID), European (PPWR) or UK (pEPR) frameworks is a strong plus.

• Fluent French; professional English required for regular exchanges with the US teams.

• Highly rigorous and organised, with the ability to manage multiple regulatory deadlines in parallel.

• Strong cross-functional communication skills, comfortable collaborating with sourcing, compliance and commercial teams
