BIOVIA is a brand of DASSAULT SYSTÈMES whose objective is to optimize and promote innovation, increase productivity, improve quality and compliance, reduce costs and shorten product development times for its customers in a wide range of industrial sectors. BIOVIA solutions create a leading scientific management environment that helps science-focused companies create and connect innovations in biology, chemistry, and materials to improve our daily lives. You will join the BIOVIA R&D team, based in Sophia-Antipolis (France, 06), which designs, develops, tests, and deploys innovative cloud solutions to support our customers in their scientific research aimed at discovering new drugs and to offer them the best possible visualizations of their data. Generative Therapeutics Design (GTD) is a cloud-based scientific application used in drug discovery processes. Scientists work with large and heterogeneous datasets and need to be able to explore, compare, and interpret them quickly. Today, screen space is often shared between different data views and control panels, which can limit the readability of graphs, tables, and structural visualizations at the very moment when decisions are most important.
Your missions
This internship is an R&D prototyping mission: you will explore and validate a new organization of the application interface, which places scientific visualization at the heart of the user experience, while keeping analysis controls easily and immediately accessible. An important part of the work will involve prototyping an "intelligent layout" (smart layout) functionality assisted by AI, capable of learning from user behavior and suggesting how the interface should adapt to their needs. The objective is not to produce a version intended for production, but to create a convincing and testable prototype, accompanied by clear UX argumentation, mock-ups and/or interactive demonstrations, as well as a roadmap for the future development of the "smart layout" functionality.
Your qualifications
You are a student in an engineering school or university, specialized in computer science, and you are looking for a six-month internship starting in January 2027. You are curious, pragmatic, and comfortable with experimentation. You like to quickly transform ideas into prototypes (wireframes, interactive demonstrations, or small code prototypes) and you learn by experimenting rather than waiting for a perfectly defined specification. You show a real interest in scientific software and in how interfaces can give more space to data, parameters, and results, without making controls difficult to access. You are also really enthusiastic about AI, not just as a buzzword, but as a concrete tool for design. You enjoy exploring how AI can contribute to brainstorming and accelerate the iterative design process. You demonstrate creativity and open-mindedness, while remaining attentive to user needs, clarity of experience, and achieving measurable results. Required skills
