Research Assistant, MonProjetSup-Avenir(s) - J-PAL Europe - PSE
A team of researchers at PSE led by Luc Behaghel and Marc Gurgand evaluates the impact of an internet platform (MonProjetSup-Avenir(s)) that helps student in their choice of post-secondary education.
The platform elicits students’ tastes, and provides them with information and suggestions for their studies. It is used in class, under the guidance of a HS teacher.
It is directly connected to Parcoursup.
Between January and March 2024, a sample of high schools has experimented with alternative version of the platform, in a large scale randomized controlled trial.
Extensive tracking data has been collected to characterize the profiles and monitor the actions of students on the platform.
It will be merged with students actions ( voeux and final decisions) on the Parcoursup platform. The next steps are to run a survey of teachers who have used the platforms with the students, and to start analyzing the data.
Tasks :
The research assistant will work closely with the researchers, PhD students and a master student involved in the project to :
- Build the dataset combining data from the two platforms a complex task requiring reformatting data in non-conventional formats.
- Perform descriptive and causal analysis.
Skills required :
- Training in economics (econometrics) or data science. M1 or preferably M2.
- Fluency in French to navigate through the platform.
- Good programming skills : R or Stata, Python. Dataviz would be a plus.
- Rigor in data management.Autonomy.
Organization of Work :
The work will take place in Paris. A salary will be paid according to the RA qualification.
