Mechanic s Patent Engineer (M / F)
The L'ORÉAL Industrial Property Department one of the largest Industrial Property teams in France is an important partner of the Group's Research & Innovation and Operations teams.
Here is the role you will play in this team :
- Participate in the construction and management of the group's portfolio (filings, examinations, oppositions).
- Ensure the freedom to operate of process and products within its scope.
- Study of competitor products in view of our patents.
- Advising R&I / Operation management and Business Affairs in the field of patent law.
- Handling opposition / appeal, participation in oral proceedings before the EPO.
- Involvement, in conjunction with IP management, in patent litigation.
- Contribute to due diligence studies related to the field of activity.
- Training researchers on issues relating to IP.
- Coordinate and Align his / her patent activities between different Hubs (France, US, Asia).
- Counseling on IP clauses whencontracting with third parties.
The skills you will need to stand out :
Legal skills :
- European patent Representative, or in the process of becoming one.
- Drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- Knowledge and practices of patent law in US, Europe, France as well as PCT procedure and knowledge of other major countries / regions such as KR, JP, CN.
- Freedom to Operate studies.
Technical skills :
- Devices (containers, closures, applicators, dispensers,etc).
- Manufacturing processes (injections,extrusion, thermoforming, machining, stamping, etc).
- Mechanical assembly (threading, snap-fitting, welding, overmoulding, crimping, etc).
- Materials.
Human Skills :
- Teamwork, strong collaborative spirit, business approach, risk awareness, autonomy, good organization for managing priorities, management of complexity, solution-oriented, customer centricity, proactivity, rigour and appetite for data quality.
- Ability to interact clearly and efficiently in a matricialand multicultural international organization.
- Strong sense of analysis and strategy related toIP protection / defense.
- Reporting skills with strongsense of communication, notably to most senior management
- Willing to continuously learn within the legal and technical fields.
- Fluent in French and English.
