Purpose of the role
As Business Development Manager (BDM) you will be responsible for a number of strategic accounts (OEM / Tier1 / Specifier) within the Transport (Automotive & Aero) Industry in the EMEA-Region (Focus on France & Italy) and for growing network and identifying opportunities within these accounts and to follow-up and coordinate their development until commercialization and delivery of the first 12 months revenue.
Responsibilities
For the relevant markets, region and accounts (both existing and new), the BDM is accountable for :
- Developing an in-depth knowledge of the account ’s business, culture, drivers, strategy, goals and how they generate revenue and profit to build a pipeline of new opportunities through effective prospecting techniques and efficient lead management.
- Identifying key stakeholders and decision makers throughout the accounts organisation, at all levels and across functions in order to create long term strategically aligned partnership.
- Managing incoming leads from existing or new OEM / Tier1 / Specifier accounts and providing advanced technical and regulatory support to convert leads into qualified opportunities.
- Identifying the customers’ wants and needs , both defined and undefined, to determine target opportunities in the short, medium and long term and convert into Revenue.
- Documenting progress, issues, and support needs to allow oversight of forward momentum and business decision making through an accurate view of customer activity and pipeline in CRM (meeting reports & target management)
- Negotiating Non Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Letter Of Intents (LOIs), and Joint Development Agreements (JDAs) and driving Sales Agreements discussion (or supporting it when buying accounts are owned by another Sales Account Manager).
- Driving coordination of all targets until commercialization and delivery of Revenue together with the Sales Account Managers / Key Account Managers in charge of the direct buying account(s) involved in the value chain i.
e processor, distributor, shapes manufacturer.
Provide forecast input to regional sales leadership for new opportunities and to the relevant Sales Accounts Managers involved in the Supply Chain.
Your qualifications and strengths
- As a "hunter" you enjoy working independently, you are determined and success-orientated and want to win new business.
- You have the ability to proactively develop and grow relationships with key customers and key influencers within the defined account structure.
- You will be able to create commercial proposals built upon technical understanding of product value propositions.
- You have experience of B2B sales as this is essential along with a Technical Degree or relevant background / experience, preferable in specialty chemicals / high performance polymers or sales of injection moulded components / extrusion, ideally linked to the supply chain of the Automotive Industry.
- Ideally, you have acquired knowledge and experience in applying a consultative sales approach.
- Fluent negotiation skills in English and French are mandatory for this role, Italian and / or German language would be a welcomed addition.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
